This Thursday sees the launch of Chris Gardener’s latest book – We Did It Our Way – which will hit book stores and online shops after Friday night’s clash with Swindon Town.

Having already authored a book about Forest Green’s attempts to get out of the National League in 2016, Chris felt compelled to produce another self-published title given the magnitude of the club’s achievements last season.

"Truly, I thought that the 2016 book had sorted out my 'bucket list' ambition of being a published author. And writing, self-publishing, marketing, selling and collecting the cash was exhausting. But 2016/17 tortured supporters' emotions with even more pronounced highs and lows and the explosion of joy and relief at Wembley was electric. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing on end as I think about it. When Liam Noble held the trophy aloft, I knew the story had to be told."

The book, published in partnership with the club, will be available for just £10 on Thursday from 6pm ahead of the ‘Meet the Manager’ event later that evening. It will also be available to purchase on Friday night from various points around the ground.

Chris has worked hard over the summer months to get the book ready and is looking forward to Rovers supporters reading his work.

"Once I'd made the decision, I tore through the manuscript. The Muse was working overtime, and my army of contributors seemed possessed by the same urgency. The first draft was ready by mid-June. Ernie Wise took longer with his plays, and I haven't got talent like what he has got! As usual, it is the editing, layout and endless proofing that takes the time, but the initial burst of enthusiasm carried me through. I loved writing the book and being able to commentate on FGR's unique, dazzling achievement. I hope everyone enjoys the book as much - it is a permanent record of the miracle performed by our wonderful club."

The book will be on sale at launch for just £10 and will then be available on the club’s online store for £13.99 from Monday for fans to buy.
