Minchinhampton......................................36
Cheltenham Civil Service.......................... 14
MINCHINHAMPTON made it two bonus point wins from two at home this season with a convincing win over Cheltenham Civil Service.
In good conditions at Hollybush, Minchinhampton set an early marker with a 60 metre break from Bradley Gardiner straight from the kick-off. They kept up the momentum and after Gardiner supplied the final pass, Sean Price made it over the line for an early score.
Concerted pressure led to a second try with number 8 Will Pullen taking a quick tap penalty and squirming his way over the line, closely followed by a third when centre Sam Viggers crashed through the defensive line and touched down under the posts.
It was more of the same at the start of the second half as a series of breaks and offloads worked man-of-the- match Pullen into the corner for a second try and a bonus point.
Civil Service rallied at this point and replied with a well worked try and followed it up with a second after a penalty try was awarded for collapsing a maul close to the line and also resulted in a yellow card, leaving Minchinhampton with 14 men.
Despite the deficit, the men of Hollybush put together a fine back line move to work Jenns into space to score a very impressive try. Not to be outdone by the backs, the forwards followed it up with one for the purists.
An unstoppable maul from a Dan Wood lineout win rolled over the line at pace and ended in a try awarded to flanker Niall Kimber.
