Royal Wootton Bassett Town.................. 0
SAM BLACKIE’S brace ended Royal Wootton Bassett’s nine-game winning sequence, writes Scott Boulton.
Brimscombe, who beat Shortwood United Reserves in a amazing 5-3 comeback game, got off to a flyer when Blackie opened the scoring inside two minutes and he was denied his second from a volley from just outside the area.
It was all Brimscombe. Jack Smith saw his effort beat the keeper and the post.
With half-time looming, Blackie found himself on the scoresheet again after he brought down Lewis Skyers’ long ball before slotting it under the Bassett goalkeeper.
Jack Smith came close again just after the break.
Boss Sam Prior replaced Ash Caldwell with Karl Nash and Nash was quickly into the action as he teed-up put Ollie Pitt, who fizzed over.
Nash dragged a shot wide before the final substitution saw Eli Simpson replace Ben Deakin.
It was a fantastic ending to the game when Pitt played the ball across to Simpson who slotted into the empty net, in the 96th minute, for his first goal for the club.
Outstanding from our boys today from start to finish. Deserved the 3 points, 3 goals and the clean sheet. @SamGBlackie with a worldy 👏👏👏 🔵⚪️
