Minchinhampton FC 4-1 Ellwood FC

MINCHINHAMPTON progressed through to the next round of the FA Junior County Cup, but were made to fight hard by a stubborn Ellwood side.

Starting the brighter of the two sides, Minch created chances but efforts from Jamie Lees and Jack Hornsby were thwarted by the Ellwood goalkeeper.

Ellwood for their part looked to counter attack and should have broken the deadlock with a free header, at the back post, going just wide.

The second period started in very much the same fashion withy both strikers, Hornsby and Lees being denied by the heroics of the Ellwood custodian.

Eventually the deadlock was broken when Charlie Farrington set Jamie Lees free on goal and his shot finally beat the keeper to nestle into the net.

Ellwood soon hit back with a ball down the middle dropping in behind the Minch defence and the Ellwood striker swept the ball home to regain parity.

Minch regained the lead following a corner which was recycled back into the box by Liam St Clair Moore for the onrushing Angus Gegg to smash home from close range.

Ellwood again hit back but saw their efforts rebuffed when a second equaliser was ruled out for offside.

Minch then pushed on and extended their lead late on in the game, firstly through Jamie Lees with a similar finish to his first goal, and then through Jack Hornsby who rounded the keeper and smashed the ball into the empty net.
