STROUD RFC skipper James Bashford has quit Fromehall Park to return to National League Three South side Lydney.
Bashford, 31, has captained Stroud for the past two terms and admitted it had been a wrench to leave the Western Counties North club.
"I've really enjoyed being captain at Stroud and everyone at Stroud has been supportive of my decision.
Stroud are a great club and I'll miss them, but I may well be back playing there again one day, possibly in the last years of my career."
Meanwhile, Rob Shipton will oversee coaching this season. He will be supported by Ed Crampton as backs coach and Nick Nelmes the former Lydney captain will be the forwards coach.
It is also expected that monthly sessions from former Gloucester coach Keith Richardson will be made during the course of the season.
