FOREST GREEN boss Mark Cooper insisted he has played on worse pitches after today's Boxing Day clash at Exeter City was abandoned at half-time due to a waterlogged pitch.

"It was a case we started it and we were waiting for the rain to come," said Cooper.

"I enjoyed it, two good teams and we gave a good account of ourselves. We didn’t really look in too much trouble, we had a couple of half chances. We can’t do anything about it, the referee has made the decision.

"I played here for a few years and it has always been a heavy pitch. We kind of knew it was going to happen. We have to get back on the bus and come back on a Tuesday night.

"I told the players to take a bit of pride, you are bottom of the league, and give it everything you’ve got and see where it can take us. The harder you try the luckier you get.

"We take the point, I said to Tis can we take a point each but the referee wouldn’t have it. It is what it is. All it does it gives us an extra 45 minutes for Lincoln on Saturday. It is really heavy but the referee has made the decision.

"It was totally his decision. All I would say is I have played on worse."
