THE view from the enclosed press box was as outstanding as the match programme. Probably the best cheese and onion rolls I have ever tasted were served by a charming tea lady, who has helped Swindon Town for more than 30 years. Unfortunately the football could not measure up. Forest Green new signings Hollis and Grubb made promising debuts, the latter being my man-of-the-match.

Defensively we looked very sound. The injury to Farrend Rawson did not help.

The main talking point was two challenges on striker Christian Doidge. In my view both were penalties. Christian was sent tumbling twice in front of goal. If they were not spot kicks he should have been booked for diving. Travelling fans were understandably incensed at both incidents. The referee needs to think hard about both decisions and ask himself if he favoured the home team. Manager Mark was ironic in his post-match remarks having to be cautious about what he says about match officials. most of us understood his irony!

Now for Cambridge. Three points please gentlemen.

Contrary to all previous press reports the venues for the T20 competition being launched by the ECB have not been chosen. Bids are being made this week. County chairman Roger Cooke thinks Bristol has a good chance . Headingley, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, Edgbaston, Lord's and the Oval are certain choices. Will Bristol pip Cardiff, Southampton and Durham.I am not holding my breath!
