Shortwood United have released Development manager Nick Ackland following Tuesday night’s 5-1 win over Tytherington Rocks.
The Development team, and especially the development of youth policy, is seen as of primary importance to Shortwood FC’s future as it moves into a period of reduced financial support.
A club statement said: "Unfortunately, the Development side have struggled almost every week for virtually the whole of this season to get together sufficient players to form a side.
"In addition, weekly training has dropped to unacceptable attendance levels.
"Although Shortwood recognise that Nick Ackland has been operating in difficult circumstances, the club has found it necessary to act now to ensure sufficient enthusiasm and motivation is forthcoming for the remainder of the season.
"Shortwood United FC would like to thank Nick for all of his efforts over many years as both player and coach."
Shortwood are now looking to install a new manager preferably with previous youth policy experience in football.
In the mean-time, Dan Robinson, who was Ackland’s assistant, will take charge of the Development side until a new manager is appointed.
