David Payne will miss the start of the season. The left-arm seamer is due to undergo surgery on an ankle next week and it is not yet known how long he will be out.
Payne was Gloucestershire’s leading T20 wicket-taker last summer with 17 and has long been a key bowler in first class cricket.
