CONTRACT talks are on hold, according to Forest Green boss Mark Cooper.

Instead, Cooper is telling his players to focus on ensuring Rovers’ League Two status.

This weekend could prove to be the pivotal moment in the League Two relegation fight.

With a six-point buffer above the bottom two and with four games to go, Rovers can confirm their place at Level Four by beating and relegating basement-boys Chesterfield at the New Lawn tomorrow and hope Barnet lose at home to Newport.

Rovers’ relegation rivals Grimsby Town, who they face on the final day of the season, will  survive if they win at Swindon, coupled with anything less than a win for Barnet at home to Newport and defeat for Chesterfield away at Forest Green, would see them secure their safety.

And Cooper is remaining calm ahead of a do-or-die game for the Spirites.

He said: "We have to be wary that they are going to have to come all guns blazing, they're going to try and get us on the back foot, they've got some really good players and we have to be ready for that.

“They are going to have to go for it, they're going to have to win to give themselves a chance.irect message "We're just focusing on the game and we have prepared in exactly the same manner as we prepared for the Cheltenham.

"We can't be looking at ifs, buts, maybes, we've got to focus solely on what the job is and that's it first and foremost to produce another performance.

“It’s important we have to really concentrate, we have to perform, we have to do all the things we did last week at Cheltenham to give us the opportunity to win the game.”

With loanee trio Tahvon Campbell, Chris Clements and Alex Bray set to return to West Brom, Grimsby Town and Rotherham respectively at the end of the season, Cooper is keeping his recruitment cards close to his chest, but expects to add up to five new faces next season.

Campbell and Clements are  both out of contract at the end of the season at their parent clubs, but are understood to be open to a permanent moves to the New Lawn.

Meanwhile, Dale Bennett, Rovers’ longest serving player is out of contract as is midfielder Isaiah Osbourne.

"We're not talking about any contracts until we are safe," added Cooper.

"I don't want to take anybody's eye off the ball, I want full focus from everybody, the supporters as well, to get the result that we need."
