Sky Bet League Two

Yeovil Town 0

Forest Green 0

A POINT at Yeovil Town guaranteed Forest Green a second season in the fourth tier.

The draw at Huish Park proved a convenient result for both sides, who will now look forward to League Two football next season.

Rovers’ night was blighted  by a head injury to goalkeeper Brad Collins, the Chelsea loanee sustaining a second-half head injury, making a fine save to thwart Francois Zoko and being subsequently stretchered off after trying to play on.

Earlier, Forest Green boss  Mark Cooper made two changes from the team that beat Chesterfield 4-1 last time out. Captain Lee Collins and Reece Brown dropped to the bench with Charlie Cooper and Dayle Grubb given starts from the get-go. Dale Bennett, Rovers’ longest serving player was absent for a second game.

With both sides knowing a point would secure safety, the first-half was bereft of any meaningful action.

Rovers were almost caught cold after the break, but a miraculous Brad Collins save denied Francois Zoke. The ball was drilled in and somehow repelled the effort, but sustained a head injury. The Chelsea loanee played on after lengthy treatment and proved he was on his mettle as he tipped an Alex Fisher flick over the bar. However, the Rovers keeper was still suffering and was eventually carried off to be replaced by Dale Belford.

The deadlock remained and despite 10 minutes of added time, a point was enough to secure Rovers a second season of League Two football with two games to play.

Forest Green travel to second placed-Luton Town on Saturday before ending the campaign with a home match against Grimsby Town on May 5.
