Eventer Laura Collett stamped her authority on the CIC3* at Houghton Hall in Norfolk with 3 horses in the top 10.

Completing on their dressage score of 26.3 Laura won with the 10 year old Mr Bass. This exciting young horse placed 4th in the Event Rider Masters CIC3* at Chatsworth two weeks ago and now heads to his first CCI4* at Luhmuhlen in Germany next month. Nine-year-old Dacapo having only his 2nd run at this level, took 6th with Billy Bounce finishing 7th.

Laura who grew up in the Cotswolds relocated from Lambourn to the Salperton Estate near Cheltenham in February. New Zealand’s Jesse Campbell took 2nd place on Amsterdam II ahead of Franky Reid-Warrilow from Prestiegne, Powys riding Dolley Whisper.

Gatcombe-based Tom McEwen moved up from 23rd after dressage to take 5th with Figaro Van Het Broekxhof, finishing on their dressage of 30.3. Tom also completed successfully with Royal Roxey and Watkins, both finishing on a score of 38.1.

Six Nations contested the British leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup at Houghton Hall, Britain, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden and the USA. Team GB had a narrow lead over Germany after the dressage and showjumping but things didn’t go to plan in the influential cross country phase giving the German team a clear win ahead of the USA who climbed from 5th after the first two phases. Ireland finished 3rd narrowly ahead of New Zealand in 4th.

Gloucestershire dressage riders were out in force at the Somerford Park Premier League show in Cheshire.

Saturday saw Charlotte Dujardin win with Mount St John VIP in the Adv Medium and Florentina VI in the Fairfax Saddles Prix St Georges. Levi Hunt from Abbey Dressage won the Inter I and placed 3rd in the Prix St Geoerges with Abbey Tiron. Sara Gallop took 3rd in the Inter II with Summerhouse Zelham.

On Sunday Charlotte won the Fairfax Saddles Prix St Georges with River Rise Escarla and the Saracen Horse Feeds Int 1 with Florentina VI. Carl Hester won the Le Mieux Grand Prix on the talented Hawtins Delicanto, Matt Frost took 3rd on AMD Don Rosso II with Sara Gallop and Summerhouse Zelham in 5th.
