Whitminster CC’s opening batsmen Ross Wakely and Lewis Cook put on what is thought to be a league-record stand of 314 at Chalford CC on Saturday.
The 1st XI remain unbeaten in their quest to return to the Glos County Cricket League and sit top of the Stroud & District Premier League.
The remarkable stand came after Chalford won the toss and asked the away team to bat first. Wakely (172 not out) and skipper Cook (101 not out) both registered their personal best scores. For Cook, it was the first time he made it into 3 figures. The pair batted the allotted 40 overs, scoring 40 boundaries between them.
In reply, Chalford dropped anchor and put up some dogged resistance against the Whitminster attack. Their total of 125-3 meant the away team took the spoils and 18 vital match points.
