TWO of Forest Green Rovers' players are moving to League Two rivals Newport County.

Winger Keanu Marsh-Brown agreeing a two-year deal with the Welsh club and Charlie Cooper joined Newport on a one-year loan on Friday.

Marsh-Brown, 25, was released by Forest Green last month after three seasons there.

Like Charlie Cooper, who joined the Exiles on a one-year loan from Forest Green, Marsh-Brown helped the Nailsworth outfit secure promotion to the Football League for the first time in 2017.

The 6ft 1ins winger came through the ranks at Premier League sides Arsenal and Fulham, going on to sign professional terms with the Cottagers in 2009.

He had loan spells at MK Dons and Dundee United before going on to play for Oldham Athletic, Yeovil Town and Barnet.

Marsh-Brown was part of a National League winning side when helping the Bees secure the title in 2015, joining Forest Green Rovers immediately after promotion and remaining with them until this move to the Exiles.

At international level, Marsh-Brown has been capped at England C level on three occasions after playing for the Three Lions under-16s and under-17 sides.

On joining the Welsh side, he said: “I'm delighted to sign for Newport County AFC. “I spoke to the manager quite a lot throughout the summer and he showed a lot of interest in me and I feel like it is the correct decision for me at this point in my career."

Cooper, the son of Forest Green boss Mark and grandson of former England defender Terry, began his career at Championship side Birmingham City.

He had a successful loan spell at the New Lawn during the 2016-2017 season, helping Rovers to win promotion to the Football League for the first time in the club's history.

After his contract with Birmingham expired last summer, Cooper signed for Rovers on a two-year deal.

He made 31 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring one goal.

On finalising the deal, Cooper said: “After speaking to the manager, I just knew that this club was the right option for me.

“I think, in terms of how I want to play and how Newport plays, this will be a really good club for me to go to because it will allow me to express myself.

"The manager just wants you to have a right go, give everything you’ve got and then hopefully the club will get the rewards for that. That’s what I want to bring to this football club."
