FROCESTER'S woes continued at Bristol on Saturday, losing by 171 runs to a Bristol team containing Gloucestershire’s James Bracey, Will Tavare and Kim Noema-Barnett and Somerset’s Fin Trenouth, writes Eric Woodmason.

In fact, Frocester performed better than in the previous fortnight, but Bracey leading the way with a powerful 150, including 21 boundaries, but Tavare, Trenouth and Noema-Barnett only compiled 21 runs between them. Andy Solomons, Richie Cave and Nick Trainor each took two wickets and Chad Trainor dismissed Bracey, as Bristol reached a total of 319-8 in 50 overs.

In reply, Noema-Barnett and Will Rudge reduced Frocester to 67-5, but Nick Trainor, with 35, and Chad Trainor, with 22, gave the Frocester total some element of respectability, bowled out for 148 in 31 overs.

Frocester 2nd X1 maintained their challenge for the WEPL Gloucestershire title with an 8 wicket victory over Hatherley at Pounds Close on Saturday.

The visitors batted first and, although Tom Drake captured two wickets in his first over, Hatherley amassed 274-8 in their 50 overs.

In reply, Chris Whincup and Will Helmke both scored 36, laying the base for a successful run chase, but then Louis Gegg joined his younger brother Ewan, and they featured in a partnership of 141 that took Frocester to a comfortable victory with two overs to spare. Ewan Gegg scored a very fine 90 not out that included 11 boundaries, whilst Louis Gegg smashed three sixes and seven fours in 77 not out.

On Sunday, Frocester defeated Hatherley in the County Cup, chasing down 209 for the loss of three wickets.

Chris Whincup and Callum Gegg both scored half centuries and Tom Wand 44 as Frocester won with 10 overs to spare.

Frocester face Bedminster at Pounds Close next Saturday as the fight to avoid relegation starts in earnest.
