DAYLE Grubb has signed a new deal at Forest Green Rovers which will see him extend his stay until 2020.

The 27-year-old, initially signed an 18 month contract when he arrived from Weston Super-Mare last January.

Since joining the club, Grubb has made 22 appearances, scoring five goals including a brace in his first start at The New Lawn against Cambridge United.

He also netted in a pre-season friendly against Leeds United last month.

The forward quickly became a favourite amongst the Forest Green faithful and is pleased to have sign fresh terms.

“The manager’s shown a lot of faith in me, rewarding me for doing well when I came in last year and of course it’s great to get the extension and a bit more stability,” he said.

“I wanted to show everyone what I’m capable of and I feel I’ve done that a little bit but I’ve still got more to offer and I want to play games and contribute in those games and I feel I have done. Of course I’ve been looking at earning myself an extension as well and playing here for years to come.

“I want to progress and I want to have a full season here and see where that takes me and see how well I can do over a full year. I’ve just had my first full-time pre-season and hopefully I can kick on and it can be a good one for me and the club.”

Manager Mark Cooper was also pleased to get the deal wrapped up.

“It’s great for Dayle and it’s great for the club,” he said. “It safeguards a good bit of business we did in January. He was new to the level and came in and did really well.

“He’s kicked on again, he looks fit and is part now of what we think is a good squad here at Forest Green. It’s important that we rewards lads that have come in and come in to prove a point and now we’ve shown that he can compete and be as good as the players we have got and is rewarded for that with a new deal.”
