Bridgewater 175 for 6

Frocester 189 for 8 (Revised Target 209)

Frocester dropped deeper into the mire after they lost by 20 runs at Bridgwater on Saturday in a match affected by rain.

Nick Trainor won the toss and invited Bridgwater to bat, with Chris Liddle vindicating his decision with three early wickets, which left the home team reeling at 51-3.

Ian Dev Chauhan rescued the situation for Bridgwater with a brilliant 88 not out from 79 deliveries, with Bridgwater reaching a total of 175-6 from 34 overs when rain stopped play.

When play resumed, Frocester’s revised Duckworth-Lewis target was 209 from 34 overs. Andy Solomons and Uzi Qureshi looked to have set Frocester on the path to victory with a fantastic opening partnership of 141 from 18 overs, but with Solomons dismissed for 90 and Qureshi dismissed 3 runs later for 52, the remaining Frocester batsmen could not rise to the challenge and they finished up 20 tuns short.

It will now be very difficult for Frocester to avoid relegation.

They are bottom of the league and 24 points behind eighth place Taunton in WEPCL Premier One.

Frocester will play Downend at Pounds Close next Saturday.
