Mark Cooper wants to keep Forest Green's momentum going in their Carabao Cup clash with Swindon Town tomorrow.

The Rovers boss will be returning to his former club in the first round of the competition aiming to reach the second round which sees Premier League clubs not competing in Europe entering the fray.

Cooper hinted their could be a a couple of change but will be taking a strong squad to the Energy Check County Ground.

"We want to progress in the tournament and try and get as far as we can," said Cooper "It gives us an opportunity to keep the momentum going. We've got a small squad but we've got some quality so some players will get an opportunity tomorrow night without weakening the team too much.

"It's making sure we pick a team that we think is good enough to get a result and that's what we're going to do, the lads are in good spirits and looking forward to the game tomorrow."

A win for Forest Green could set up a second round tie with a Championship or Premier League club and Cooper is hoping his side can progress and get a bit of luck in the draw.

"I don't think the club have ever played a Premier League club in a competitive fixture so that will be good and that's the aim. A big team always boosts the coffers so we'll see what we can do."

The tie also sees Cooper return to the club he managed between 2013 and 2015 but is solely focused on getting a win for Forest Green ahead of a busy run on fixtures.

"I've been back a couple of times now so that's gone, the ships sailed so I'm just looking forward to a good game of football.

"We've got a busy couple of weeks coming up, it's not ideal in terms of preparation but we're all in the same boat so we'll get on with it."

Kick off at the Energy Check County Ground is at 7.45pm tomorrow night.
