FOREST Green Rovers made it three without defeat as they progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Tahvon Campbell scored the winner on the hour mark in a game Forest Green really had to dig in.

The goal came against the run of play as Swindon dominated the first half but Rovers grew into the game and were excellent defensively.

Mark Cooper made eight changes to the side that drew with Oldham Athletic at the weekend.

Theo Archibald, Paul Digby and Dayle Grubb all impressed from the bench at the weekend and were rewarded with a start while five others made their first appearance of the season.

Farrend Rawson, Liam Shephard and Christian Doidge were the only one's to keep their place.

Phil Brown made three changes for Swindon with Sid Nelson, Toumani Diagouraga and Joe Romanski coming in for Steven Alzate, Jermaine McGlashan and Dion Conroy.

Swindon made a bright start and put Forest Green under early pressure. Elijah Adebayo did well on the left and beat Liam Shephard. His cross fell to Michael Doughty who swept in a shot but it bent just wide.

Forest Green weren't as fluid in possession as they were in their last two games while Swindon were full of energy and pressed quite high.

The best chance came on 14 minutes when James Montgomery ran out to clear but it was a poor one and it fell to Martin Smith on the half way line. He was urged to shoot and almost scored as he hit the post from the half way line to the relief of the back peddling Montgomery.

The former Gateshead stopper atoned for that mistake on 26 minutes with a fine save from a Keshi Anderson header from close range which looked destined for the bottom corner.

He made another fine stop to deny Michael Doughty low to his right as Swindon had the better of the first half.

The hosts began the second half in the same manner as the first. Taylor had a free kick saved and Adebayo also tested Montgomery.

It was Rovers who took the lead, against the run of play on the hour mark.

The ball was kicked long by Montgomery and was misjudged by the defender which allowed Tahvon Campbell to pounce and he coolly bent the ball into the bottom right hand corner to give Rovers the lead.

Swindon would have been forgiven for feeling hard done by.

The Robins were resorting to shots by distance and were being frustrated by Forest Green.

Cooper brought on Lloyd James and Carl Winchester to help strengthen their grip on the ball. James set Archibald free with a lovely pass down the right who danced his way into the box to unleashed a shot which was well blocked.

Swindon were resorting to long balls as they tried to push for an equaliser late on but Rovers really dug deep and frustrated them.
