Farrend Rawson was pleased with the way Forest Green Rovers dug in at Gigg Lane despite conceding a late equaliser.

Rovers were leading against Bury before Gavin Gunning was sent off and the home side equalised in the 90th minute.

Bury, who have just come down from League One, put Mark Cooper's side under a lot of pressure in the second half and the defender felt the red card didn't make too much difference to the game but was encourage to still come away with a point.

"They were coming onto us in the second half and were pushing on so I don't think it's got anything to do with that.

"Gav's (Gunning) a little bit unlucky because he might have been offside but they were coming on to us but these things happen in games and you do sometimes go down to 10 men but for the majority of it we dug in, we had to sit a bit deeper but we defended the box and were just a bit unlucky that last five minutes added time.

"I think we've come away from home and we knew they were going to be a good side, they've got some good players and today was a tough test for us.

"The pleasing things is that we didn't lose and we stuck in but we've got to look at the game and be a bit disappointed that we didn't come away with all three points.

"Some of those things go against you and you look back and think what could you have done but we've come away from home here and I think a lot of teams will find it tough coming here and I think they'll be up there this season and we've come away with a point."

Rawson has struck up a good partnership with Gunning which he feels has been important to the team but he'll be without his centre back partner on Tuesday against Stevenage at the New Lawn as Gunning will be serving a one match ban.

"I feel like he's a good player and we just work well together and know each others strengths and weaknesses so the connections there. Those relationships are important.

"The manager has brought in a lot of players though. Haydn Hollis had an unbelievable preseason, Digby looks sharp and Lee Collins is club captain and he's a good leader so any of them can come in a do a good job."

Rawson already has his eyes on the Stevenage game on Tuesday where he is hoping to get back to winning ways.

"We'll come in on Monday, look at the tape and see where we went wrong and where we did put some positive things and put it right on Tuesday and hopefully at our place we can get the result.
