Chris Cramer claimed his first Hill Climb victory in more than 30 years with victory at Shelsey Walsh.

Cramer came out on top in the class for cars built between 1972 and 1985, his first victory since retiring from the sport in 1986.

The two time former RAC British Hill Climb champion, now 79, admitted it was an unexpected victory after experiencing some engine issues in the two practise runs.

He also had to get used to racing on radial wet tyres for the first time and work out the grip level of the new tyres but in the his experience and calmness under pressure saw him over the line.

The event took place on Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12. Cramer competed in the same Gould 84G/2.5 litre Hart, the car which he won the 1985 RAC British Hillclimb Championshiop.

Shelsley Walsh is the oldest Motorsport venue of any kind in the UK and has been part of the sport for 113 years.

Cramer will also be competing at the 90th Anniversary of the formation of the Bugatti Owners Club at the famous Prescott Hillclimb near Cheltenham in May 2019.
