Quedgeley Wanderers Res. 2-3 Minchinhampton

These two sides always seem to play out end to end matches with goals and drama aplenty and this game was certainly no exception.

A flying start saw Minchinhampton press forward from the start and Toby Gardiner let fly with a shot from distance which flew into the top corner past the keeper.

Quedgeley Wanderers hit back and which led to a cross into the box which was not dealt with and Chris Riley looped a shot into the net.

With their tails up, the home side continued to press and gave Minch a scare when they hit the crossbar but the away side regained the lead after a quick counter attack saw Jack Hornsby play in Josh Button who rounded the keeper before scoring.

Tom Beard then saw a powerful header clearly cross the line but the referee and linesman thought otherwise and didn't allow the goal.

The second half saw Quedgeley in the ascendancy. With twenty minutes remaining they snatched a deserved equaliser when a whipped free kick into the box was met at the back post by a late runner who headed the ball into the far corner.

Minchinhampton got over their wobble and Andy Thomas set Josh Button free to drive into the heart of the Quedgeley defence and calmly stroke the ball home and claim the three points.

After the match news came through that Ollie Osborne-Shill had fractured both wrists in a fall in the dying stages of the match. Best wishes for a speedy recovery are sent by all at the club.
