Frocester U19s won the Vitality Blast at The Brightside Ground on Sunday.

In the final against Bedminster, Frocester reached a respectable 121-7. They struggled initially at 46-4 before Harry Senior with 30 and Will Helmke with 26 recovered for Frocester and Ashley Babbage striking a quick 20 at the end of the innings to reach their total.

In reply, Bedminster stormed to 79-2 from 15 overs and looked to be heading for victory until Chad Trainor and Taylor Ireland captured three wickets between them. Dan Brownlie then captured another wicket and then 17 were required from the final two overs. Tension mounted as Angus Catto bowled the penultimate over, but he took a wicket and only conceded six runs. Will Naish bowled the final over with 11 required, but he was too quick for the last batsmen and only conceded five runs as Frocester won by five runs to take the trophy.

Elsewhere, Frocester first XI gave their chances of avoiding relegation a boost with a five wicket victory over third placed Downend at Pounds Close on Saturday.

Andy Solomons struck 2 early blows for Frocester, capturing a wicket and then producing a run-out with a brilliant piece of fielding. Downend recovered from 3-2 to 87-2 but then Ross Martin and Solomons again captured wickets, 88-4.

Tom Drake then bowled Gilmour and Downend were struggling on 123-5, but Callum Loud batted well for 72 to lift the final total to 195 all out.

In reply, Uzi Qureshi had a fine innings of 72 and a 76 run partnership with Chris Liddle who struck eight fours and two sixes in an innings of 46, to swing the game to victory. Jack Cowles batted well for 17 not out as Frocester reached their target in the 42nd over.

Frocester second X1 went 25 points clear at the top of WEPL Gloucestershire with a 94 run victory over Cheltenham Civil Service with a total of 234-7 in 50 overs.
