FOREST Green Rovers came from behind to preserve their unbeaten run thanks to Reuben Reid's emphatic late penalty.

Rovers fell behind in the first half when Chuks Aneke took advantage of Robert Sanchez's mistake against the run of play.

The game was billed as Forest Green's toughest of the season so far and they more than matched their opponents and were worthy of their point.

Mark Cooper made one change to the team that drew with Port Vale last week.

Dayle Grubb came in for the suspended Farrend Rawson which pushed Gavin Gunning back into the back three.

Forest Green made a strong start and looked the more likely in the early stages. Reid had a header saved while Liam Shephard clipped the crossbar with a cross from the right in the opening 15 minutes.

Rovers dominated the first 30 minutes and looked to be comfortably in control but it was the hosts who took the lead against the run of play.

George Williams (not to be confused with Forest Green's Welsh midfielder) crossed was dropped by Robert Sanchez. Aneke reacted quickest and evaded a challenge from Shephard and the recovering Sanchez to smash the ball into the empty net.

Forest Green were almost architects of there own down fall again when James gave it away in the middle of the park which allowed Aneke to be put through. He looked to be one on one with Sanchez only to be denied by a fantastic challenge by Nathan McGinley.

Grubb had a great chance to equalise seven minutes before the break when Reid played him in but he blazed it over from the corner of the six yard box.

There was a heart in mouth moment early in the second half when Paul Digby's headed clearance went inches wide of his own goal.

Rovers regained their composure and began to put the Dons under pressure. There best chance to equalise came on 72 minutes when Jo Mills rifled in a shot which was beaten away by Lee Nicholls but Reid followed up and his effort was blocked. There were big appeals for a handball by Reid and a couple of Rovers players but the referee ignored them.

Forest Green's pressure finally paid off with ten minutes to go when they were awarded a penalty. Williams got in front of Jordan Moore Taylor who tried to pinch the ball off him but eventually caught his heals.

Reid stepped up and made no mistake from the spot as he smashed the ball into the roof of the net - a perfect spot kick to score his third of the campaign.

Rovers nearly took the lead as substitute Theo Archibald's cross was almost durned into the Dons net but it trickled wide.

Dons then reasserted themselves and Robbie Simpson went for the spectacular with an overhead kick which only just went over.

There was a heart in mouth moment in the dying seconds when Kieran Agard looked certain to score but Mills heroically blocked the shot, injuring himself in the process but Rovers got the point they thoroughly deserved.
