PERSHORE Swimming Club are toasting a fine summer which produced a gold and silver medal at the national finals.

They sent four competitors to the summer competition in Sheffield with three making finals.

Patrick Heeks, 15, won gold in the 50m butterfly with 26.60 seconds and was 11th in the 100m butterfly.

Hannah Woodcock, 14, claimed silver in the 50m butterfly in 29.42 having qualified in 20th.

She was 11th in the 50m freestyle and 17th in the 100m freestyle.

Chris Vizard, 16, was sixth in the 200m butterfly in two minutes 14.84 seconds.

He set three personal bests and clocked 1.00.83 in the 100m butterfly.

Alex Barry, 14, finished 11th in the 200m backstroke in 2.27.99.

Pershore head coach Tom Naughton said: “I could not be more proud of how hard the swimmers have worked to qualify and then their attitudes and performances competing in Sheffield.”

Pershore member Simon Sweatman, 16, now at Millfield School, was 17th in the 50m butterfly and 22nd in the 100m butterfly at the British Championships and 12th in the 50m freestyle at the nationals.
