ANDY Sandell is ready to rekindle his passion for football with Forest Green and fill the scoring boots vacated by Reece Styche.

Sandell, 28, who joined Forest Green yesterday on a three-month loan deal from Wycombe Wanderers, is expected to lead the attack against Hayes and Yeading tonight.

The Swindon-based player previously forged a reputation as a goal-scoring left-sided player, but the chance to play up front alongside best friend Charlie Griffin, proved an offer too good to turn down.

"I played up front for Salisbury and scored a few goals, so the opportunity to play up front alongside my best mate Charlie Griffin was a massive draw for me," said Sandell, who started his career on Forest Green’s youth books but never made a first team appearance under the then Rovers boss Nigel Spink. Despite making 13 appearances for Gary Waddock’s side this season, Sandell had fallen out of love with the game, but he is now hoping to get into bed with his new club.

"I always give 100 per cent and don’t like losing, but I was fed up with the travelling to Wycombe and playing left-back," revealed Sandell.

"I had fallen out of love with the game, but I intend to get that love back with Forest Green and enjoy myself again."

Sandell hasn’t ruled out a permanent switch to the New Lawn after his loan deal runs out.

"I want to see what Forest Green are like and they can do the same. If the trial period goes well, we will have to wait and see."
