LEAGUE One leaders Cavaliers defeated division two counterparts Rods Reds in the Stroud Snooker League semi-finals.

Cavaliers’ Greg Marshall took the first frame off Rod Chester,however Chester came back strongly to take the second.

Marshall then gave Cavaliers a buffer by beating Laz Stzenko 2-0.Rob Yeomans then secured the win for Cavaliers.

Their opponents in the final will be Macs Machines who belied their poor league position by defeating Brats 4-2.Matt Wilkins gave Brats an early lead beating Keith Fitzpatrick 2-0.

Wilkins looked in control for pretty much all of the two frames and the highlight was a 39 break for Wilkins.

Fitzpatrick put up a spirited display but just couldn’t cope with an impressive Wilkins.

Scott Buckley made short work of his contest with Rob Neale with a 2-0 win.Buckley had a 24 break early in the first and maintained a comfortable lead throughout.

In the second Buckley stepped up another gear knocking in a marvellous break of 59 on the way to easily winning his match.

John McMullen gave Machines their final place with a 2-0 win over Tony Morgan.

The final will take place at Fromehall Mill on Monday, March 12t (7.15pm ).

It turned out to be a great weekend for John McMullen and Scott Buckley not only did they help their side to the final of the Team Knockout but also landed the first silverware of the season when beating John Worso and Billy Hollis 4-0 in the final of the Scratch Doubles.

It proved to be a comfortable win for McMullen and Buckley as Worso and Hollis struggled to hold the fire power of the two inform players.

McMullen and Buckley left their opponents needing snookers in all four frames before they got to the colours in an all-round classy and impressive display by the pairing, however taking nothing away from Worso and Hollis, who reached the final in their first season in the league, which was a fantastic achievement.

Elsewhere, KCs defeated Tetbury Gentlemen 4-2. Ian Tudor and Malcolm Bishop drew 1-1,as did Chris Tudor and Colin Hilliker. John Hitchings gave KCs the win beating Roger Evans 2-0.

Meanwhile, in the Knockout Competitions there was wins for Keith Sulliven, Matt Wilkins, and Chris Tudor in the Handicap Competition who completed the quarter-final line up,there was also a win for Keith Sulliven in the Scratch Singles quarter-finals to complete the semi- final line-up.
