DAVID Hockaday has made his final foray into the transfer market, signing former Aston Villa and Lincoln City utility man Paul Green on a two-year deal on Friday.

The 25-year-old spent last term at Blue Square rivals Tamworth, making 43 appearances for The Lambs, but made his name at League Two side Lincoln City after spending his youth career at Villa.

Hockaday said despite saying that the club had concluded their work in the transfer market with the signing of Ed Asafu-Adjaye last week, the opportunity to add Green to the squad was too good to pass up.

Hockaday said: “Paul can play anywhere across the back but we will be looking to use him at centre-half and in central midfield.

“He has good pace and good feet. He’s strong, a leader and a warrior.

“I am absolutely chuffed to bits - Paul is the final piece in the puzzle - we won’t be signing any more players unless bubonic plague strikes.”

Green played at Lincoln City for five seasons from 2006/07 through until 2010/11, making 127 appearances in all competitions.

In his second season at Sincil Bank, Green won the Lincoln City Player of the Year and Players’ Player awards.

FOREST Green have announced their squad numbers for the season: 1 Matt Bulman; 2 Jared Hodgkiss; 3 Chris Stokes; 4 Al Bangura; 5 Jamie Turley; 6 Chris Todd; 7 Omar Koroma; 8 Yan Klukowski; 9 Reece Styche; 10 Magno Vieira; 11 Kieron Forbes; 12 Jamie Collins; 13 Rob Brown; 14 Matt Taylor; 15 Eddie Oshodi; 16 Ed Asafu Adjaye; 17 Phil Marsh; 18 Ben Wright; 19 James Rowe; 20 James Norwood; 22 Paul Green; 23 Sam Russell; 24 George Washbourne; 25 Saul Williams; 26 Ashley Brown.

ROVERS travel to Evo-Stik Southern League North Leigh on Saturday (3pm).

Wayne Turk is set to face Rovers after making the move to the Oxfordshire side this month.

PREMIER Sports TV have chosen to screen two of Forest Green’s home matches this season.

Rovers’ clash against Lincoln City at the New Lawn on Friday, September 28 and their match against Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, December 29 will be screened live with both matches scheduled for 7.45pm.
