BRIMSCOMBE motorsport rider Dan Cooper will ride for the Gearlink Kawasaki Team at Assen in Holland this weekend.

Meanwhile, Cooper banked some valuable track time on his 1000cc Superstock Honda Fireblade at Castle Combe .

The Centurion race team have identified that Cooper needs to get as much track tiem as possible on the bigger 1000cc bike in preparation for the 2013 road races at the NW 200, the Isle of Man TT and the Ulster Grand Prix.

He was entered into two races – the Powerbikes BLD Trophy and the Phoenix Open Simply Saab King of Combe.

For the power bikes, qualifying was a four-lap race. Cooper started 23rd on the grid and finished second, posting the fastest lap.

The Phoenix Open qualifying was a 20-minute timed qualifying session, with Cooper securing pole with a best time of one minute 13.54 seconds and 0.7 seconds quicker than his nearest challenger.

Cooper led the BLD Trophy’s eight lap race from start to finish, setting a new club class and club overall lap record of 1.13.04 seconds to finish over an eight second lead.

The Phoenix Open comprised ten laps, and again he led from the start to set a new club class and overall club lap record of 1.12.96 and finish with a 11.95 second lead.

Overall the meeting was a huge success, with Cooper getting some good track time and getting to know the Honda Fireblade a bit better.
