PAINSWICK completed a comfortable six-wicket victory in the local derby against Stroud at Farmhill.
In the absence of Painswick skipper Ali Bressington on school duty veteran Ian Hogg led the team in a fine all-round performance. Spearheaded by Dan Cave's excellent 3-33 the Painswick attack restricted Stroud to 187-8 with a dogged 48 from Keith Daniels and a late 41 from Rich Cox giving Paul Frape's side a respectable score. On an excellent track the Wick's batsmen took control in spite of the early loss of Andy Beer and kept their noses ahead of the run rate with a good 34 from Neville. But it was James Cook with an excellent 78 and promising 17- year-old Sean Powyer with 42 that got Painswick home.
