ART lovers have only a short time left to experience two special sculpture exhibitions presented by Gallery Pangolin.
At the Museum in the Park, visitors can step back in time into Lynn Chadwick’s studio. An internationally acclaimed sculptor with work in the world’s leading art museums, Lynn Chadwick is less known here in Gloucestershire, where he lived and worked for much of his life.
This unique exhibition gives visitors a ‘peek behind the scenes’, as if the great 20th Century sculptor has just popped out for lunch and will be back at his workbench at any moment. It offers a fascinating insight into how he actually made his inspiring beasts and figures, and includes one of his early mobiles, created in the early 1950s.
In contrast, the exhibition at Gallery Pangolin in Chalford showcases work by contemporary sculptor Jon Buck. The modern art gallery is tucked away at the back of Chalford industrial estate, right next door to Pangolin Foundry, one of the world’s leading art foundries. Outside you hear the roar of the river and heavy machinery, but inside the quiet, calm gallery you can enjoy Jon Buck’s sculptures, prints and drawings. His new work is powerful, playful and humorous, and is full of bright, joyful colour.
Lynn Chadwick: the Maker’s Studio ends on Sunday, and Jon Buck – Without Words ends on Friday, July 18, the last Gallery Pangolin show before their summer shutdown.
