SINGER/SONGWRITER Edd Donovan and his Wandering Moles will be emerging from the depths to perform at the Prince Albert in Rodborough this weekend.

A social worker by day, Edd is soon to release his new album, Something To Take The Edge Off - a collection of heart warming and thought provoking songs.

Originally from the north and now living in Cheltenham, Edd is a distinctive contemporary folk, singer/songwriter influenced by the likes of Cat Stevens, Simon and Garfunkel, Loudon Wainwright, Nathaniel Rateliff, Fleet Foxes and Bowerbirds.

Inspired by nature, community and simplicity, his songs challenge as well as warm the listener.

The first single from the new album, House on Fire, was released earlier this month as an EP.

Inspired by Andrea Ashworth’s book Once in a House on Fire, the song recalls a child’s view of domestic violence.

With survival as its theme, there is a positive message which shines through.

Commenting on the track, Andrea Ashworth said: “I'm deeply honoured that Edd should have been inspired by my memoir to produce a song as lovely as House on Fire.”

Folk website Folkgeek recently praised Edd’s ‘infectious melodies…beautiful harmonies and captivating and compelling vocal style’.

Something To Take The Edge Off is released on Monday, April 28 on Cheltenham-based Paper Label Records and will be available on iTunes and Amazon – see www.edddonovan.co.uk

Edd is now touring to promote the album and will be performing at The Prince Albert on Easter Sunday, April 20, at 7pm.
