IT’S BACK to school for students of rock.
Stroud Rock School opens its doors on Monday, August 25, with a range of courses covering all aspects of musicianship.
Students aged between 11 and 19 years old are invited to enrol, whether they’re into rock, pop, funk, punk, jazz or hip hop.
The programme of workshops, seminars and practical sessions will include performance skills; forming and running a band; effective self promotion, and recording and production.
Tutors include both local professional musicians and music industry insiders, all of whom aim to give budding musicians the head-start they are looking for.
The week culminates in a live showcase performance.
There is a charge to attend the course to cover tuition and materials but there are some sponsored places, to make the course accessible to young people who face financial barriers.
The Stroud Rock School will be held at the Sub Rooms from Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29.
