ALAN HORNE of Windsoredge Passed away peacefully on 25th October 2019 aged 68 years. Dear brother of William. His funeral service will be held at Westerleigh Crematorium on Tuesday 19th November 2019 at 12.30pm. I did teacher training in Newcastle with Alan in 1976-77. We became good friends and had a common interest in football, cricket, and hill walking. Alan and I had some very enjoyable walking and camping expeditions in Northumberland, the Lakes, and Scotland. I rented a room from him in Cramlington for a while when we were both teaching English locally. I remember meeting his parents at his house. We kept in touch and last met up in Bristol some years ago. We exchanged Christmas cards and occasional phone calls, and I have only just learnt of his death. I am very sorry about the loss of Alan, who was one of my oldest friends. I send my condolences to his brother.
