DEVELOPERS who were refused planning permission to build up to 100 homes on Rodborough Fields have launched an appeal to the Secretary of State more than two years since the application was made.
Planning officers at Stroud District Council refused the proposal by Lioncourt Homes in November 2013 due to concerns about ecology, surrounding wildlife and the impact on the AONB.
More than 2,500 opponents wrote to SDC after the controversial proposal to build on a 3.3 hectare patch of the fields between Dr Newton’s Way bypass and the King’s Road estate was put forward in June 2013.
The appeal will be heard at a public inquiry at a date to be confirmed.
The public campaign against the development attracted widespread attention and was featured on an episode of the BBC2 series The Planners.
To comment on the application go to planningportal.gov.uk/pcs by September 24 or email the planning inspectorate on judith.onuh@pins.gsi.gov.uk, quoting reference APP/C1625/W/15/3131673.
