A PUB in Dursley with a focus on the traditional hopes to walk away with the title of Pub of the Year.

Landlord Josh Bailey doesn’t just think he runs the best pub in Gloucestershire – he firmly believes The Old Spot is the best pub in the country.

That belief doesn’t come from nowhere.

The Spot boasts a vibrant atmosphere, old fashioned decor and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Frequently packed, the pub is a hit with people in Dursley and further afield, not to mention tourists who drop in while completing the Cotswold Way.

“It’s a bespoke pub with a bespoke service,” said Josh. “No one is treated any differently.

“Anyone who walks through that doorway is a local and we make them feel at home. I can’t knock this place and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

With seven real ales on tap, five of which are changed regularly, and three still ciders, Josh says The Spot celebrates a 365 day beer festival.

And while the focus will always remain on drinks, a menu of high quality food is also available, sourced, like the ales, from as close to home as possible.

“It wouldn’t be The Old Spot without our customers. We have such a loyal following, and everyone is so welcoming,” added Josh.

“That’s what I love about this place.”
