AN ARTIST who spent two years living in a woodland cabin in Painswick has created a collection of artworks inspired by the experience.
Karen Green will show a selection of oil and botanical paintings at her exhibition, entitled Nemophilist – Memories of Emerald Hollow, which opens at the Lansdown Gallery on Monday, October 31.
“Emerald Hollow is hidden away in the woods near Painswick Beacon,” she said.
“My partner, Denius Parson and myself lived there for a couple of years.
“He is a chainsaw sculptor, so was able to work in the woods without disturbing people.
“The place had electricity but no hot water, although we did have an outside electric shower. The only heating was a large wood burner.
“With the changes of weather and lack of luxury, there was a sense of survival and strength alongside the calm and peacefulness of the woods.
“Being there gave us a feeling of freedom with our creativity.”
Exhibition continues until November 6.
