ARTIST and violinist Angie Spencer is auctioning one of her new paintings to raise funds for Stroud Symphony Orchestra.
The oil painting, Severn from Rodborough, is a response to Jonathan Trim’s composition Heart of the Five Valleys, which the SSO will play at their Autumn Concert at Holy Trinity Church on the evening of Saturday 26th November.
The rehearsal in the afternoon of the 26th November is open to children and parents from 2.30pm at Holy Trinity.
The painting will be on display at the concert and the rehearsal, and then Angie will include it in her solo show Passacaglia at Lansdown Gallery from 28th November – 4th December.
"I am so excited by this project," said Angie.
"Jonathan asked me to paint some responses to his composition, which describes the town of Stroud and its pastoral surroundings in music. "As I began the paintings I was moved to give something back to the orchestra, which has provided me with such joy and companionship in music over the years."
Sealed bids are welcome between Saturday 26th November and Wednesday 30th November.
Passacaglia also includes Angie's 2016 series of responses to Schubert and Shostakovich created for the Carducci Quartet, as well as work from her artist’s residency in Scarborough in August.
