It is no secret that Forest Green chairman Dale Vince does not care for ties.
And now the left-field green energy mogul is trying to convince the football world to follow suit.
In a week when MPs were told they no longer have to wear ties, Vince, who allows staff at green energy provider Ecotricity to wear casual-attire, is hoping football boardrooms will start to become less formal places.
He said: “We have this tie problem quite often in away boardrooms,” said Vince. “This is a good move from the House of Commons and football needs to follow this.”
He was awarded ‘special dispensation’ to avoid wearing a tie and jacket in Wembley’s royal box, watching his side beat Tranmere Rovers and gain promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history.
He added: “TV said I was the first chairman in history to be in the Wembley royal box without a tie, but shocking really."
