TRAFFIC is building on the M4 near Stoke Gifford and Winterbourne due to a multi-vehicle collision.
Two out of four lanes westbound are currently closed while debris is cleared.
There are severe delays, with travel time now in excess of an hour and a half.
The incident occurred at around 10.22am on the M4 Westbound between J19 M32 (Bristol) and J20 M5 (Almondsbury Interchange), Congestion is building towards J18 A46 (Bath/Tormarton).
As of 12.39pm, all lanes were reopened, pending vehicle recovery work.
However, at one stage all four lanes were closed, causing heavy tailbacks for morning commuters.
Only 2 lanes (of 4) are now closed on the #M4 westbound between J19 and J20. Recovery is being arranged, severe delays on approach.

A Highways England spokesman said: "There are currently severe delays of over an hour and a half on the M4 westbound between J18 and J20 due to a multi-vehicle collision between J19 and J20 which has closed 2 lanes of 4.
"Recovery has been arranged and is en-route.
"Please allow extra time for your journey should you be travelling in the area, and consider alternative routes if at all possible."
