A FURTHER half a million pounds is set to be approved for A419 improvements through Stonehouse.
On Wednesday, November 15 Gloucestershire County Council cabinet members are set to approve a further £0.52 million to enable work to start on A419 improvements.
The overall scheme will cost £4.36 million, after a Capital Growth Deal Grant was approved via the Gloucestershire First Local Enterprise Partnership (GFirst LEP). £0.52M of GCC’s existing Highways budget will be required to fund the detailed design works.
By approving this extra funding the county council can get underway with finding a contractor for the scheme.
Among many changes, the proposed improvements would include widening the A419 eastbound and westbound entries and exits from one lane to two lanes, adding an extra lane to the Oldends Lane roundabout, installing new pedestrian crossings, and an off carriageway cycle route around the roundabout perimeter, and improvements to street lighting and signing.
