TRAINS are now running between Patchway and Bristol Parkway train stations following major disruption this morning.

The chaos began in the early hours of this morning after cable was stolen from the tracks near Filton Abbey Wood, with dozens of trains through Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads being cancelled or delayed.

Trains are currently still unable to run between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway, with further delays expected through this afternoon.

The incident was first reported just after 4am this morning, with CrossCountry routes between Temple Meads and Cardiff Central, Manchester Piccadilly, and between Plymouth and Edinburgh and Glasgow Central.

Great Western Railway routes are also affected between Portsmouth Harbour, Taunton, Westbury and Cardiff Central, between Penzance, Weymouth and Bristol Parkway, between Swansea, Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington, and also between Salisbury and Gloucester

Customers travelling between the Bristol stations are advised to use the number 73 bus.

CrossCountry customers are advised that the hourly service will run between Bristol and Birmingham. Trains in both directions are being diverted via Swindon and will not call at Bristol Parkway.

Great Western Railway customers travelling from South Wales to Southampton and the South Coast are advised to travel on Great Western Railway services to Reading, and change at Reading for services to Southampton.

Customers travelling between South Wales and Bristol Temple Meads or Bath Spa are strongly advised to travel via Swindon.
