OFFICERS investigating an assault in Cheltenham have released a CCTV image in the hope that someone can identify the offender.

The incident left, which took place at around 1.45pm on Sunday, October 1, left a 24-year-old man with a fractured cheekbone causing loss of sensation to the left hand side of his face.

Police would like to identify a man caught on CCTV.

He is described as a white male with short hair who was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and trainers.

He may have spoken with a Birmingham accent.

The offender and three males left the nightclub before standing on the Promenade; this is when the victim and his two friends walked past.

It’s at this point when a conversation started between the two groups, the interaction is believed to have become heated and the victim was punched from behind.
