STROUD sledgers were in their element last Saturday as they took to the slopes at Daisy Bank, Horns Road for some snowy fun.

Dozens of well-wrapped up people from the community brought out sledges, skis and impromptu toboggans to enjoy the extraordinary snow fall.

Rodda Thomas, landlord of Horns Road pub the Crown & Sceptre, took the opportunity to organise a group photo of nearly 100 sledgers which will adorn the wall of the pub for posterity.

Landlord Rodda said: “The last time it snowed here to this extent was back in 2010, and we did not know what to expect, but this time we were ready and opened the pub early to accommodate the sledgers, snowboarders and Igloo makers.

He also explained that events like these really brought the community together: “What has been amazing is seeing the community come together to look after each other, and make sure their friends and neighbours are ok,” he said.

“And of course, having a few snowy days like this is a great opportunity for the community to get together and enjoy Daisy Bank.

“We never got around to taking a group photo in 2010, but managed it this time, I think it shows our community in a great light,” he concluded.
