A NEW cafe specialising in homemade products has opened in Nailsworth.

Carsha’s Cafe is being run by the dynamic duo of Nersha Shorland-Bishop from Bussage and Carol Butt from Leighterton.

The pair are well known in the area having worked together at the Halfway Cafe in Box.

Due to their previous success and the pure enjoyment they got out of running a cafe they have now gone into business together.

“We made such a success of our time at the Halfway Cafe that we decided it was time to open up our own place,” said Nersha.

“The official opening was supposed to be the weekend when it snowed so that was a bit of a disaster.

“However, plenty of people turned up on Sunday and it we got really positive feedback.

“This has always been a bit of a dream of ours and I’m thankful to my husband and our family and friends.”

Despite the positive signs since opening, the duo are well aware of the challenges running a cafe can present.

“There are many cafes around the Nailsworth area but we believe we can compete,” said Nersha, who used to teach people with learning disabilities.

“Everything we cook including the cakes, paninis and sandwiches are all homemade from scratch.

“We also cater for vegans and people who want food that is dairy or gluten free.

“Doing the day to day running of the cafe isn’t a problem and is second nature to me and Carol, I think it the business side that could prove to be more tricky.”

“Me and Carol would just like to than the whole community which has got behind the cafe in our first few weeks.

“It makes us feel a lot better when people show their support.”

Carsha’s Cafe is located on Market Street in Nailsworth and is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and on special occasions on a Sunday.
