A POPULAR Barbers shop in Stroud is hosting an autism awareness event next week.

Dann Barbers will generously donate all tips earned on Tuesday, March 27 to charity as part of Autism Awareness Week.

The money raised will go to the Stroud Court Community Trust, a charity that provides year-round and life-long support for autistic adults.

Kieran Bendle, who works at Dann Barbers, helped organise the event.

“My dad and nan have been heavily involved in the Stroud Court Community Trust and I wanted to help.

“Sometimes it nice to make an effort and do things for people who aren’t necessarily as fortunate as yourself.”

Two of the residents from Stroud Court will be dropping in for a haircut and Chris Atkins, executive director of Stroud Court is delighted with the support from Dann Barbers.

“Autistic people can struggle with everyday activities which we take for granted, said Chris.

“We are incredibly grateful to Dann Barbers for raising awareness of this and other issues which make life even more difficult for our residents.”

Helen Kay, fundraising manager added: “Spending restrictions over the past decade have made it increasingly difficult for our charity to continue the many activities and programmes enjoyed by residents.

“With the help of Dann Barbers and their customers we will be able to provide valuable and necessary resources to make sure the autistic residents can continue to enjoy the kind of life we all take for granted.

“This means a life without fear and anxiety, living and working with people who care and understand them, their aspirations and their needs.”
