Shire Hall’s failure to pay tribute to Gloucestershire’s women must be put right, Labour will argue tomorrow when the full county council gathers.
Stonehouse councillor Lesley Williams, who will lead the pro-diversity push at the meeting, points out that “the wall of Great Gloucestershire Achievers remarkably hasn’t a single woman on it” - an omission made more embarrassing, in her view, by February’s celebrations of the 100 year anniversary of votes for women.

Cllr Williams and her party will propose a motion that, if passed, would see a cross-working group set up to look at the ways Shire Hall can better reflect the diversity of Gloucestershire.
She also argues such action would be even more timely given the planned summer opening of the council’s new heritage hub, which will offer a space for the preservation of Gloucestershire’s past.
