A STROUD man was arrested for drug offences last week as part of a county-wide police operation.
The 28-year-old man from Stroud was arrested for possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
On Thursday and Friday of last week, police swooped on five properties in the district to execute arrest warrants for firearms and drug offences.
A witness to the arrest in Stroud said: "Police with stab vests were jumping in the river to catch a man.
"There was a massive commotion with armed officers who chased the man through Hallidays Mill in Chalford before they arrested him."
Additionally a second man, also aged 28 years, from Gloucester was arrested for production of a class B drug.
Evidence of a cannabis supply was found at one of the addresses along with evidence of production at another, but no firearms were recovered.
It is understood that the police were able to obtain the arrest warrants after being tipped off by members of the public.
Police are encouraging members of the public to submit information about any local concerns directly at gloucestershire.police.uk or by calling police on 101.
