AN INSPIRATIONAL Rodborough girl aged 8 has bagged a bronze medal in the British Transplant Games after recovering from a kidney replacement.
Edie Layfield, from Bath Road in Rodborough brought home the bronze medal for the 50 metre sprint.
To achieve this Edie trained regularly on a Spillman's Pitch and Walkley hill as well as doing circuits of Stroud Rugby club every morning.
Edie's father, Robin Layfield discussed the importance of organ donation.
"Organ donations can make a massive difference to the lives of young people in Stroud and further afield - Edie is a fantastic example of this," explained Mr Layfield.
"She had an absolute blast and is now getting ready to start training for next year, where she hopes to compete in running, track, field and swimming events."
In total, Edie and her father raised a massive £1,565 exceeding their £1000 target, this will go towards the Bristol Children’s Renal Team.
