Readers browsing the books at Painswick library next Saturday will also be able to take part in a singing session courtesy of Painswick Community Choir.

Painswick Community Library will be hosting the session with the lively singing group on October 13, as part of national libraries week.

Titled 'sing in the library' the event will provide a shining example of how libraries can bring communities together, combat loneliness, provide a space for reading and creativity and support people with their mental health.

Libraries Week is the annual showcase of the best that UK libraries of all kinds have to offer, encouraging everyone to discover their library on the second week of October.

This year's library week will focus on well-being and singing together is well documented as a great way to increase wellbeing, whether by participating or simply listening and watching.

Painswick Community Choir is described as a vibrant and fun world music choir, led by Sophie Sterckx.

The choir session will be held at Painswick Community Library, Victoria Square on Saturday, October 13.
